The towns for the most part in the Araucanía Andina are small. You will also find that most of the hotels and places to stay are small. You will often get a family setting, and very personalized service, often by the owner or the owners family. Things will be very low stress and relaxed.

In the Araucanía Andina, Expect the word “hotel” to be associated with better quality. In the middle to budget level, we would recommend “Pensions”, “Hostels”, and “Hospedaje”.  In terms of Hostels, do not expect to find Hostels in the sense of European backpacker sorts of places with dormitory and bars. There are a few, but not many. None the less, they often are clean, respectable, friendly, and a very good deal in Southern Chile. Sometimes, the quality will exceed that of many places marked “Hotel”. At all levels, expect to find a family personalized feeling in most place to stay around the Araucanía Andina.
