The long dormant Chaiten Volcano erupted about 10 kilometers from the town of Chaiten in the Chilean Patagonia. Volcanic ash was dumped on the town of Futaleufu and East of the Volcano, and in to nearby boarder towns in Argentina.  This month All Southern Chile will run a series of articles on the town of Futaleufu and the surrounding area. We also hope to correct some misinformation that was initially reported internationally. Read on to find out what we know so far.
