| Ensenada definitely qualifies as a sleepy little tourist town. It comes to life for the summer tourist season then falls back to sleep for the rest of the year. It is the Gateway community to the national park Vicente Pérez Rosales (Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales) and Lake Todos los Santos that straddles the Chilean-Argentina boarder. Ensenada is about 20 min drive along an incredibly scenic highway from Puerto Varas. A trip that is worth taking any time of year. |

Ensenada also is one of the closest community to three, sometimes, very active Volcanos, the Osorno, Calbuco y Puntiagudo. The most famous is Osorno. One time, two of the three volcanoes erupted within about 20 min of each other. Somehow this town has managed to survive both the geological and tourism industry instabilities. The surrounding natural wonders seem to do a good job of sheltering Ensenada from both.

Most recently a Ski resort opened on the sides of one of the Volcanoes (Osorno), but information about the resort and, from what hear, the Skiing are still pretty sketchy as infrastructure is still being established.

We currently have little information on where to find local sources of tourist information. Most tourism offices can be found in the larger towns around the lake, and in the national park there are tourism centers.

You most likely will have to work hard for something to do at night. Local bars and restaurants will mostly be on the quiet side, but after a full day this might be a blessing. Look to bigger towns around the lake for the vida loca.

We currently have nothing on Hotels or Places to Stay on Ensenada. We will update this shortly. We do know that there a lot of campgrounds and hospedaje in the area, along with some hotels in the summer.

We currently have very little on places to eat in Ensenada. There are several Restaurants in the area, but they are only open for the summer months. In the winter, launch options are mostly what the local store's counter has to offer.
