Futaleufu ( Futaleufú ) can only be reached by land through Argentina. There are no direct roads in Chile to Futaleufu. There is a ferries that operates in the summer months to connect the short gaps in the Austral Highway. The other methods to reach Futaleufu is by boat from either Chiloe or Puerto Montt. There are daily ferries that take about 12 hours to reach Futaleufu by water. The fastest method is to take a plane from Puerto Montt to Chaiten, and then take a bus for about 3 hours to Futaleufu. Like we said, this is not an easy place to get to, but is well worth it.
