All forms of lodging, from the 5 star hotel to the no star hostel, Southern Chile has some great deals and places to stay.

For big budgets, we would recommend locations that use the word “hotel” in there advertising. This would include the major international brand names, and also some Quality local Hotels. Expect the word “hotel” to be associated with better quality. In the middle to budget level, we would recommend “Pensions”, “Hostels”, and “Hospedaje”. In terms of Hostels, do not expect to find Hostels in the sense of European backpacker sorts of places with dormitory and bars. None the less, they often are clean, respectable, friendly, and a very good deal in All Southern Chile. Sometimes, the quality will exceed that of many places marked “Hotel”.

Puerto Montt Southern Chile

Puerto Montt is one of the largest cities in Chile and has a large number of four star hotels and quality Hostels to choose from. For those on a budget, we would recommend “Pensions”, “Hostels”, and “Hospedaje”.  As a major port and industrial hub of southern Chile, Puerto Montt has plenty of Budget places to stay for the backpacker.
