All forms of lodging, from the 5 star hotel to the no star hostel, Southern Chile has some great deals and places to stay. For big budgets, we would recommend locations that use the word “hotel” in there advertising. This would include the major international brand names, and also some Quality local Hotels. Expect the word “hotel” to be associated with better quality. In the middle to budget level, we would recommend “Pensions”, “Hostels”, and “Hospedaje”. In terms of Hostels, do not expect to find Hostels in the sense of European backpacker sorts of places with dormitory and bars. None the less, they often are clean, respectable, friendly, and a very good deal in All Southern Chile. Sometimes, the quality will exceed that of many places marked “Hotel”.

The Hotel Colonos Del Sur was a beautiful dark wood building...
 | The grand old lady is gone. The Colonos del Sur hotel, once a statement of luxury and ambience in Puerto Varas is no more. On the lakefront next to the casino, the hotel provided luxury accommodations for tourists for many years, but early in the morning of March 12, fire swept through the historic three story wooden building. Volunteer bomberos fought the fire from around 4AM with everything they had confining the fire to the upper stories. However, extensive smoke and water damage appear to have pretty well finished the destruction. |

Puerto Varas Chile

Puerto Varas southern Chile has long been a tourist destination in Southern Chile. There are many Hotels and smaller hostels around Puerto Varas. As Puerto Varas and southern Chile's tourism industry grows, there are currently plans to build a series of five and four star hotels.
