Puyehue is located East of the city of Osorno in region X of Southern Chile. The town of Inter Lagos is one of the larger municipalities in the area (40 mins from Osorno), and is the last major town before the Puyehue National Park and the boarder crossing to Argentina. The Puyehue hotel and Puyehue ski resort, along with hot springs, rivers, lakes, fly fishing are major tourist attractions in the Puyehuearea. The views of the mountains and volcanoes give the more famous resort towns of Pucon to the North, and Puerto Varas to the south a run for their money; but, the Puyehue / Inter Lagos area has some how managed to escape the major tourism developments and thus the tourist trap feel of the other towns. The area for the most part remains very rural, and in general has been an area for old money families in Chile to vacation in Southern Chile.
