The Seven Lakes
Just south of the more famous Pucon and Lake Villarrica starts the Seven Lakes Region of southern Chile. The Seven Lakes area is a nice alternative to the more expensive and trendier Pucon to the north. Included in this region are the towns of Coñaripe, Pangipulli, Choshuenco, Neltume, and Puerto Fuy. The Seven Lakes are, Panguipulli, Pirihueico, Calafquén, Pullinque, Pellaifa, Neltume, and Riñihue.

The town of Panguipulli
is the gateway to the Seven Lakes region of Southern Chile. The Chilean
Seven Lakes region should not be confused with the Argentinean Seven
Lakes region just over the mountains. Panguipulli has all marks of
being the next Pucon, but is still holding on to that southern Chile
friendly small town atmosphere. |

Yes, that is a waterfall coming out of the top of that hotel!
In Southern Chile there is not that many true four star hotels and above. Well, we found one. The Magic Mountain Hotel and Hotel Baobab are in the heart of the Huilo Huilo nature reserve. The architecture, combined with the forest setting, makes this truly a magical mountain and forest. Full four star international service, in such a spectacular location, sets the Magic Mountain Hotel and Hotel Baobab apart from all the other hotels we have visited in Southern Chile. The realy amazing thing is that the Magic Mountain hotel you see in the photo is possibly the least spectacular thing going on around the Huilo Huilo nature reserve in Southern Chile. We even got video of it.
