Can I buy property in Chile from outside the country? Do I physically have to go to Chile?

We recommend to all of our clients that they at least visit the property they wish to buy once. However, it is possible to have property purchased in your name using a limited power of attorney by either us or someone else you trust in Chile. This power of attorney should be drafted by a lawyer, and signed at a notary public either in Chile or at your nearest Chilean embassy or consulate. It should clearly stipulate the limits on the powers and the tasks to be executed.
