Who pays what fees when buying property in Chile? |
|
The buyer and the seller in Chile
traditional pay half of the fees for the notary public. It is very
common to negotiate these fees along with the terms of the
purchase. For example, the seller might ask the buyer to cover all
the cost as part of the conditions of purchase, or may alternatively
offer to pay a larger part.
All fees for the title registration are
the responsibility of the buyer.
If there is a real estate agent
involved, both the buyer and the seller share the commission for the
real estate agent. This may range from about 2% each to 6% each.
Please consider however that the real estate agent still represents
the seller of the property. It is for this reason that we do not
charge commission when handling property purchases to avoid such
conflicts.
